Marble cake

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder

Directions

STEP 1
Preheat oven to 160°. Line a baking pan with baking parchment and oil and set aside.

STEP 2
In a large mixing bowl, sift all-purpose flour, baking powder and sugar and keep aside.

STEP 3
Melt the butter over a medium heat in a pan.

STEP 4
Combine eggs and butter and mix well with the help of an electric mixer on high speed until creamed. Scrape the sides and gradually add vanilla and milk and beat until combined.

STEP 5
Mix in the flour mixture and mix till well combined. Do not over mix.

STEP 6
Remove 1 cup of yellow batter into a small bowl. Add cocoa powder and mix well and keep aside.

STEP 7
Pour an even layer of yellow batter into the lined cake pan. Spoon chocolate batter on top. Pour remaining yellow batter on top of the chocolate batter. Repeat 3-4 times.

STEP 8
Using a knife or tooth pick, swirl the two batters together. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect.

STEP 9
Bake the marble cake for 25 minutes, or until knife or toothpick comes out cleat after inserted into the cake. You can cover the cake with the aluminum foil

STEP 10
Remove from the oven and allow to cool on a wire rack. Serve with tea or coffee or cold milk and enjoy!
