Home-made Salsa
Many people can’t believe that tomatoes were once forbidden in the Midwest. But before you start putting tomatoes in every pot, you will want to learn how to make one of the go-to sauces. It’s Tomato Salsa, and it is very simple to make.
It takes less than 15 minutes to put together and it is enough to do in the time it takes to get ready for dinner.
Ingredients
- 3 large tomatoes, diced
- 2 spring onions, chopped
- 1 red onion, chopped
- 2 tbsp fresh coriander, chopped
- 1 clove of garlic, chopped
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp roasted and crushed cumin
- 1/2 tsp brown sugar
- 1 pinch of black seed
Directions
STEP 1
Combine chopped tomatoes, sprig onions, red onion, coriander and garlic in a bowl and give it a nice mix. You can Place these ingredients in a food processor and pulse enough to finely dice the ingredients and not enough to puree.
STEP 2
Add lemon juice, red chili powder, sea salt, black pepper, cumin, brown sugar and black seed and mix well.
STEP 3
Let sit the salsa for an hour in the refrigerator (or room temperature), to get nice flavor.
STEP 4
Serve with chips, nachos, burritos, tacos or quesadillas.
Notes
- You can keep the salsa in the refrigerator for 5 days.
- You can add tomato sauce if you like thinner salsa.
