Lab e Shireen

Lab e shireen is a Pakistani dessert which if often enjoyed at different occasions like Eid, Iftar parties.


My Mom love to make this awesome dessert at home. I always love to eat this delicious and mouth watering custardy and fruity dessert.


Custard is soft– tasty confection, and it made me wonder, as I look at the large mug of ice cream on a magazine stand, if there were any captivating ice creams.


It is perfect for a terrible day. May be a bowl to give you company, because that really is the only occasion for fruit cocktails.

Make sure it has two things: fruits and jellies. I can’t seem to stop making it.

The lesson of enjoying ” Lab e Shireen” is that you don’t want to think too much about what is added to the dessert–it just matters that you make sure you are eating just a little of the basic ingredients and not too much. People think of your dessert as something inherently healthy, but it is a very refined treat.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups milk
  • 2 tbsp custard
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 packets jelly (2 different flavors like strawberry and banana)
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 cup vermicelli, multi colored
  • 1 cup whip cream
  • 2 cups mixed fruits, cubes/chunks

You can take fruits of your choice. I used some of these fresh fruits;

  • apple
  • mango
  • pineapple
  • banana
  • strawberry
  • pomegranate
  • grapes

Directions

For the custard

STEP 1
In a Pan, add milk and bring to boil on a medium heat.

STEP 2
In the meanwhile, mix custard powder in a small bowl with milk and make a thick paste without lumps and when the milk starts boiling, add this mixture and stir constantly.

STEP 3
Add sugar and cook till it becomes thick.

STEP 4
Remove from the heat and pour in a bowl and let it cool. You can refrigerate for 2 hours at least.

For the Jellies

STEP 1
Empty the contents of a jelly in a deep bowl.

STEP 2
Add 1 cup boiling water and stir until dissolved.

STEP 3
Now, you can add 1 cup cold water and stir well.

STEP 4
Now, refrigerate until set.

STEP 5
Cut jellies i into 1/2 inch cubes.

For the multi colored vermicelli

STEP 1
In a pan, add water and vermicelli and bring it to a boil for the amount of time the package tells you (5-7 minutes).

STEP 2
Drain the water out through the strainer/sieve.

STEP 3
Set aside for 10-15 minutes to cool.

Layers

STEP 1
In a mixing bowl, add the custard and vermicelli and combine well.

STEP 2
In a large serving bowl, make a layer of 1/2 of mixed fruit cubes.

STEP 3
Now, spread 1/2 of the jelly cubes on the top of the fruits.

STEP 4
Spread 1/2 of the custard-vermicelli mix all over and make it even.

STEP 5
Repeat the same process with the remaining fruits, jellies and custard.

STEP 6
In the end, spread even layer of a whip cream and top with few chunks of fruits and jellies and refrigerate for 1 hour.

STEP 7
Your yummy dessert is ready to be served!
