01 Jun Baked Potatoes
Does your family love potatoes? Mine will take them anyway they can get them.
Today, I thought we could go back to the basics and bake potatoes which are actually incredibly easy to make. Those baked potatoes whose insides are perfectly fluffy and steamy and taste like pure remind you how satisfying a simple potato can be!
All you need are easy ingredients, a few minutes of active preparation and the best baked potatoes will be ready to serve.
- 6 potatoes
- 5-6 cloves of garlic (chopped)
- 3 tbsp oil
- 2 tbsp butter (melted)
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Pre-heat the oven to 180c and line a large baking sheet or tray with a foil.
Wash potatoes with a running water thoroughly and dry them with a help of a kitchen towel.
Using a standard knife, pierce 3-4 deep holes all over the potatoes and poke potatoes 5-6 times with a fork, so that moisture can escape during cooking.
Fill in the poke potatoes with garlic and place them on the baking sheet.
Rub oil all over the potatoes until it is completely coated on all sides.
Sprinkle sea salt and black pepper all over the potatoes and pour butter on top.
Place the potatoes in the oven and bake for 20 minutes and remove from the oven.
Using a brush, brush the outside of the potatoes with more oil and place them back in the oven with a reverse side up so that it can cook evenly on both sides.
Bake for 20 more minutes until skin feel crisp and flesh beneath feels soft and tender. The exact baking time will depend on how large the potatoes are.
Using an oven mitt, remove the potatoes from the oven and slice halfway with knife and squeeze and it will pop right open. But, watch out, there will be some steam.
Serve immediately with your desired toppings like butter, cheese, sour cream and enjoy!
