Matar Pulao

Matar Pulao 


1      cup rice

1      onion

1/2  cup green peas

1      inch julienne cut ginger

2      tomatoes

5-6  black peppercorns

3-4  cloves

1        cinnamon stick

1        bay leaf

1/2    tsp cumin seeds


Salt to taste



In oil, add onions and cook till they turn to brown.

Add a sprinkle of water and cover it for 1 minute.

Open the lid and now add ginger and cook it for a while.

Now add tomatoes and cook till it leaves the oil.

Add peas and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Now add salt, black peppercorns, cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon and a bay leaf.

Cook it for a while and add 1 ½ cups of water and boil.

When it starts boiling, add rice and cook on a medium to high flame till the water dries out.

Now put matar pulao on simmer for 10-15 minutes.

Serve them with raita and salad.
