Qeema Matar|Mincemeat and Peas

One of my favorite ways to cook minced meat! I like to eat a little bit moist minced meat with lots of onions and tomatoes.

Qeema Matar|Mincemeat and Peas


It is perfect for sehri as well. Same recipe can be made with variety of potatoes, capsicum and bitter gourd.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1/2 kg minced meat (beef/mutton)
  • 3 onions, sliced
  • 3 tomatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp black seeds
  • 1 tsp Shan Tikka Masala (optional)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 1 cup green peas
  • 1 tbsp fresh coriander, chopped
  • 1 chunk ginger, julienne cut

Directions

STEP 1
Heat oil in a pressure cooker over a medium heat.

STEP 2
Add onions and cook till they change color to brown.

STEP 3
Add qeema/mincemeat and combine well. Add tomatoes along with salt, redi chili powder, turmeric, black seeds, Shan Tikka Masala and mix well.

STEP 4
Add water and cover and cook over a low-medium heat for 30 minutes.

STEP 5
Remove the lid and add ginger and garlic paste and keep on stirring til it leaves the oil.

STEP 6
Now, in the end, add green peas and 1/2 cup water and cook over medium heat for 10 minutes till peas become soft. simmer for 5 minutes over a very low heat.

STEP 7
Remove from heat and dish out.

STEP 8
Garnish with fresh coriander and ginger and serve hot with roti/flat bread or with rice and enjoy!
